They’re coming! They’re coming!

I feel like this title should be something out of a sci-fi flick. However the NCC ecojsutice program has not started working in the field of the extraterrestrial – we are however working with our international partners and bringing a few of our friends to the United States!

As you may remember, a few of us were recently in Ghana for the UN Conference on climate change. With us were Rosemary and Evelyn from Uganda and Daniel from Zimbabwe. Each of them have been working passionately and fearlessly to address cliamte change and the impacts that its having on their countries and communities. And now they are coming to the U.S. to tell their stories!

Rosemary, Evelyn and Daniel will be joining us the week of Septemebr 22 and meeting with members of Congress as well as UN delegates who will be in New York for the upcoming General Assembly meeting. They will be sharing their experiences and calling on each and every one of us to do whatever we can to prevent the catastrophic impacts of climate change from devastating their communities and their countries.

Climate change is already having horrifying impacts on agricultural production in Uganda and changing weather patterns in Zimbabwe. However, these countries and communitie do not have the infrastructure or the money to adapt to these changes like so mnay of us have here in the U.S.

To welcome our guests to the US, the NCC has put together a solidarity statement that we are asking people around the country to sign. Go to http://www.nccecojustice.org/africasignon.html to sign the statement and welcome/thank them!
