Earth, will you be my Valentine?

This Valentine’s Day, Interfaith Power and Light is sponsoring a Preach-In on Global Warming. It is just what it sounds like: A chance  for communities around the nation to preach about creation care.

In October, this blog posted startling facts from a Pew research study that found while the environment is non-partisan issue, less than 50% of church attendees hear sermons about the environment.  Only 6% of people said faith impacted their view on the environment. This Preach-In is a chance at realizing a New Year’s resolution to change that. It is opportunity to join with others in speaking about God’s love for creation.

With the Clean Air Act up for debate and voting this year, there is no better time than NOW to start prophetically preaching about our need to care for the world. Additionally the program offers creative activities like sending valentines to policy makers.

Interfaith Power and Light has all registered communities covered with the support of activities, and sermon starters. The last day to receive materials before the 11-13 weekend is TOMORROW February 2.

The Earth is worth your love, and Sermon; share them both with an untraditional valentine gift.
